FYI, PDF version of the comics are available for free on the nav bar to the right, but you can also do all the clicking through you want through the various comics again through the Comics Press Nav.  I’ll be adding in chunks as stories are finished, rather than weekly however.

Anatomy of a goofy crime story page

A friend mentioned it might be kinda cool to go through a process blog here with all the weirdo digital/paper/design back and forth I tend to do.

So, here’s ya go, a breakdown of a story pages I’ve been working on for an upcoming goofy crime story.  With text below if you’re interested in keeping scrolling past the pitchers.

I try breaking down each page as step by step as possible, partly because I’m a huge GTD (Getting Things Done) junkie who just plain likes checking COMPLETE a lot.  But, also because it helps me personally keep on track on nights I don’t necessarily have the brainpower to ink or am out with only the iPad for digipencils, etc.

  1. Thumbnails
  2. Design
  3. Lettering
  4. Models and VPs
  5. Digital Pencils
  6. Print Pencils
  7. Final Pencils and Inks
  8. Washes and Pro-White-
  9. Scans
  10. Composites and final art

So, there ya have it. Probably not your process, or the best process, but it’s mine.
